Capital Campaign 2026

What is this campaign for?

St. Nicholas is raising funds to pay down our mortgage debt. We would like to totally retire one of our two mortgages and refinance the other at a favorable rate when it comes up for renewal in January 2027.

Reaching these two goals will free up resources on a monthly basis and in the long-term. With these resources, we hope to expand our ministries and secure the ongoing financial stability of our church.

I already have a generous pledge in place. Why can’t you use that money?

And thank you for that! Your annual pledge is vital. Pledges and contributions are what the church uses to operate on a day-to-day basis: it’s how we pay our clergy and staff, pay our utility bills, and - of course - how we make our monthly mortgage payments.

Your pledge to this Capital Campaign goes further than that. This campaign is a way to reduce the church’s debt burden, above and beyond our regular monthly payments, and give the church some additional resources to work with.

I have provided for the church in my estate planning. Won’t that do the same job (eventually)?

Bless you! Yes, legacy giving is a fantastic way to ensure the church’s long-term financial stability, and it is both needed and appreciated.

In the big picture, this is a short-term campaign - it will help us in the next few years to do more than just keep the doors open and the lights on. It’s an investment in the growth of the church and its ministries for years to come.

Okay, I’m in! What else do I need to know?

We’re taking pledges between now and June 30 so we can start planning. Pledges should be paid in full by November 30, 2026. You can be do in one of three ways: All at once, in three payments, or in five payments. Just let us know on your pledge submission.

Wait - I have more questions. I need a real person to talk to.

Absolutely. Contact Jim Gilliam or Beth Brown, campaign chairs. They’ll be happy to answer your questions. Call or email the church office if you need their contact information.
