What to Know for Your First Visit
Services
Every Sunday beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Parking
St. Nicholas has its own parking lot including marked wheelchair-accessible spaces.
Childcare
Care is available for the little ones. Just ask an usher for the nursery.
Dress
Our congregants wear what is most comfortable for them, from Sunday dress-ups to jeans.
St. Nicholas appreciates the contemplative poetry of the Episcopal liturgy (with the occasional twist).
Our congregation generally uses Holy Eucharist Rite II from the Book of Common Prayer.
(Don’t know what that means? It’s okay - our service bulletin will tell you everything you need to know to worship along with us.)
On the first Sunday of each month, we have WONDER CHURCH - a contemporary liturgy designed to be accessible to all ages.
Experience a more relaxed structure, with discussion and interactive music.
Enjoy a mix of worship music - from the 1982 Hymnal, from other denominations’ hymnals, and from other cultures and traditions.
We want you to feel centered, joyful, prayerful, and welcome at our services. Please ask anyone if we can help you in that regard.
What should I expect at a Sunday service?
It’s best to arrive about ten minutes before the service time, especially if you have little ones to settle.
You’ll be greeted in the narthex (lobby) by ushers, who will give you a service bulletin. Let them know you’re new! They can direct you to the nursery or to restrooms, or have someone guide you inside the sanctuary.
Once inside the sanctuary, sit anywhere you like. Episcopalians have traditionally used the few minutes before the processional to pray, reflect, and review the news in the bulletin.
If you are unfamiliar with the Episcopal worship service, don’t worry! There are directions in the service bulletin, but you can always ask someone near you for guidance. We’re happy to help!
We’d love to have someone ready to greet you as you arrive. Or, ask any questions you have on your mind.
